Ethereum fee arithmetic, made clear

Ethereum gas fees.
Calculate your ETH budget.

GasBench calculates Ethereum execution-fee scenarios from gas units and EIP-1559 fee caps. Compare the scenario cost, maximum fee exposure and your ETH budget using exact arithmetic.

Set your scenario

65,000 gas is a made-up teaching input, not a USDT estimate. Token transfers do not have a universal fixed gas cost.

How the numbers connect

Effective price = base fee + the smaller of your priority cap and (max fee − base fee).

Scenario fee = estimated gas used × effective price. For example, 21,000 gas used at 20 gwei costs 0.00042 ETH. This is an arithmetic example, not a live estimate.

Maximum exposure = gas limit × max fee. Your wallet needs enough ETH for this plus any ETH you send.

Sequential count checks that each transaction can reserve its maximum exposure, then subtracts the scenario cost. It assumes unchanged fees and gas use. It is not a batch-sending plan.

Questions worth answering before you send

Why do I need ETH when sending USDT?

A normal Ethereum USDT transfer calls a token contract, while Ethereum execution fees are paid in ETH. USDT in the same address does not itself pay that fee. Sponsored or account-abstraction systems may behave differently and are outside this calculator.

Is the maximum fee what I will pay?

No. It is a cap for the execution-fee budget, not a quote. Gas actually used and the effective price determine the fee. A failed execution can still consume gas.

Does this calculate Base, Arbitrum or Polygon fees?

No. This model is limited to Ethereum execution fees. Rollups may charge separate L1 data fees; other chains can have different rules. It does not calculate blob fees, exchange withdrawal fees or sponsored transaction fees.

Does a valid scenario mean a transaction will succeed?

No. There is no simulation, wallet balance lookup, contract inspection or inclusion prediction. Check the live transaction, network and full recipient independently.

What leaves my browser?

The calculator does not send your inputs anywhere. Hosting receives normal page requests. There are no accounts, analytics scripts, wallet connections or stored histories. Copying or downloading a report includes the scenario numbers you entered.
